Emergency Shelter
Emergency Shelter
Our Mission
casawomenshelterjeffersonco was first created in 1985 under the operation of Shelter Ministries of Dallas as a safe haven for women and children fleeing an immediate threat of domestic violence. To protect our clients’ safety, our Emergency Shelter sits at an undisclosed location. Women and their children are welcome to stay at the emergency shelter for up to six weeks.
Each year more than 650 women and children come through our doors looking for one thing: safety. Most people arrive with nothing but the clothes on their back after making the brave decision that ultimately saves their lives. These women suddenly find themselves without a home or a way to feed their families and it is up to us to give them hope that there is a better life waiting for them.
Each person staying in our Shelter attends weekly individual and group therapy for the duration of their stay. Additionally, Emergency Shelter children may attend the on-site alternative Simmons School. During this time, our Counselors and Case Managers guide them through the healing process and assist them in setting up a new life and a brighter future.
